Liebe Ursel, lieber Marc und lieber Giovanni,
als ich heute in der Yacht (25/26) den Artikel über die Charterflotten im Mittelmeer las, war ich richtig stolz auf Euch!
Was Ihr da auf allen Stützpunkten erreicht habt ist bewundernswert. Und dafür möchte ich Euch gratulieren.

Seit 1987 fahre ich Segeltörns auf eigene Verantwortung. Seit 1989 chartere ich bei SUN CHARTER. Von insgesamt 41 Törns, die ich seitdem durchgeführt habe, wurden 30 mit SUN CHARTER gemacht, von allen vorhandenen Stützpunkten aus. Die allermeisten (23) aber von den Stützpunkten in der Türkei.
Eines ist für mich nach alldem ganz sicher: Das war nicht der letzte Törn mit SUN CHARTER.
Meine Erfahrungen mit anderen Vercharterern: Die, die ich kenne, sind nicht so gut wie SUN CHARTER. Das könnte man jetzt beliebig differenzieren, was ich mir an dieser Stelle sparen möchte.
Nur soviel:
*_Kundenfreundlichkeit hervorragend, *_Ausstattung der Schiffe hervorragend (besser als manches Eignerschiff
*_Zustand der Schiffe hervorragend, selbst bei älteren Schiffen.
*_Service hervorragend.
Ich habe letztes Jahr einen Karibiktörn in den Windward Islands gemacht, natürlich nicht mit einem Schiff von SUN CHARTER, weil es die dort nicht gibt. Das Schiff, ein Katamaran vom Typ Lagoon 440, war im Vergleich zu dem, was ich von SUN CHARTER kenne, eine Katastrophe. Es gab zwar keine Sicherheitsmängel, die lebensgefährlich hätten werden können. Aber der Zustand und die Sauberkeit und die Ausstattung waren jämmerlich.
Noch ein paar Worte zu den Revieren:
*_Für mich ganz vorne (für mich besser als Karibik!!!) steht hier die Ägäis, vor allem die Kykladen, die man von Marmaris oder Karacasögüt gut erreichen kann. Abwechslungsreich und meistens guter Wind.
*_Die Osttürkei, vor allem der Fethyie-Golf, wo ich früher öfter war und letztes Jahr seit langem mal wieder, leidet darunter, daß mittlerweile zu viele dorthin wollen, mit allen negativen Begleiterscheinungen, die das mit sich bringt.
*_Mallorca hat seine Reize, vor allem wenn man Ibiza und - noch mehr - Menorca in die Törnplanung einbezieht.
*_Elba war ich schon langen nicht mehr. Früher war das sehr schön, heute hört man, daß es auch sehr frequentiert sein soll, mit den entspr. Begleiterscheinungen. Jedoch keine jüngeren eigenen Erfahrungen.
*_Korfu waren wir nur einmal. War gut, aber die Ägäis gefällt meiner Crew besser.
*_Gerade zurückgekommen sind wir von dem neuen Stüzpunkt auf Sardinien: Dieser eröffnet ein neues, interessantes Revier, hat aber den gewohnten SUN CHARTER-Standard (noch) nicht ganz erreicht. Der Umgang mit Kunden kann noch verbessert werden, was sicherlich geschehen wird, davon bin ich überzeugt. |

Liebe Segler
Die Türkische Ägäis liebe ich seit über 20 Jahren ..für mich die Karibik im Mittelmeer !!
Nun habe ich im Oktober ein negativ Erlebnis erfahren ..
Achtung in der Gemiler Bay (sh . Fotoanlage) hausen Zigeuner ,sie kommen am Tag ans Schiff und laden zum Nachtessen ein … ??? Abholservice inbegriffen „alles inklusive“ nur 50 TL…
In Tat und Wahrheit wurden daraus 100 TL pro Person sind SFR 50.- für ein nicht geniessbares Essen, aroganter fast frecher Service , keine Ahnung woher das Essen kommt man sieht nichts, alles um den Tisch ist dunkel ….Schiff während der Zeit abschliessen …
Diese Bucht lieber meiden !!! Daneben in der 1.Cold Water Bay bai ALI alles spitze so auch bei 3.Caracoeren Bay
Bitte diesen Tip weiter sagen und diese Leute nicht mehr unterstützen .

In der Woche 18.7. - 25.7.2011 sind wir von Sardinien um die Insel La Maddallena herum bis zu Corsica gesegelt. Schönes Wetter mit genug Wind (ausserdem Montag mit zu starkem Wind - den verbrachten wir auf La Maddalena). Der Schiff war im Super Zustand, alles funktionierte und wir hatten keine Probleme. Die Übernahme des Schiffs war schnell und PRoblemlos. Komunikation mit dem SunCharterTeam war perfekt. Auch zurückgabe des Schiffs schnell.

Auch ich kann mich nach inzw. 8 Charter in den letzten Jahren (zumeist bei Familie Frere am Stützpunkt Marmaris)den Lobeshymnen Sun Charter betreffend nur anschließen. Top professionelle Handhabung in allen Bereichen vom ersten Kontakt bis zur Heimkehr nach stets tollen Törn´s bzw. heißen Regatten bei den Race Weeks der vergangenen Jahre. Nach Eröffnung des neuen Stützpunktes Sardinien ist das schönste Segelrevier Europas damit wohl fest in der Hand der Wolfratshausener -welches wir Schwaben für den Rest unserer Seglertage garantiert nutzen werden.

Bei schönstem Wetter (Na ja, ein wenig mehr Wind hätte es ruhig sein können...)
einige Häfen und Buchten auf Korfu und dem griechischen Festland angesteuert.
Die Crew von SUN-Charter in Gouvia hat einen tollen Job gemacht, trotz Streß an den Übergabetagen immer nett, zuvorkommend und kompetent.
Unsere Yacht \"Over the Waves\" war in einem Super-Zustand, technisch einwandfrei und blitzblank sauber.

Sun Charter in der Türkei (Marmaris) verdient ein grosses Lob: professioneller Service und Schiffe, welche bestens ausgerüstet und in gutem Zustand sind. Ich kann Sun Charter nur weiterempfehlen. |

I have just finished a week long bareboat charter in the Tuscan Islands and Corsica. The boat was a 45\' Sun Odyssey and was a lastminute charter from SunCharter based on the island of Elba.
We noticed while sailing that there were very few boats from English speaking nations. This may be to do with the time of year - early August - but it may have more to do with the fact that there are none of the big charter companies from English speaking countries. Consquntly, I thought it would be useful to share our experiences as we would strongly recommend it to people looking for a charter destination in the Med.
Firstly, the area is wonderful. We had some wonderful sails in a variety of sea conditions and had a particularly memorable sail off the west coast of Corsica.
Our itinerary:
Portoferraio (Elba) to Capraia (Italy)
Capraia to Centuri Port (Corsica, French territory)
Centuri Port to St Florent (Corsica)
St Florent to Maccianago (Corsica)
A day spent around Maccianago
Maccianago to Porto Azzuro (Elba)
Porto Azzuro to Portoferrio
We covered about 200 nm in the week which is quite a lot for a charter but achievable without very long days of sailing.
With favourable winds we could have added St Florent to Calvi but with a SW wind on the nose it would have been uncomfortable.
The islands are volcanic and rise straight of the sea in a most dramatic way which also means there are not many anchorages though even in the high season we found no problem finding anchor space. However, the marinas were pretty full. We are not fans of marinas anyway and the 45\' carries enough water to make a week long cruise without marinas perfectly doable.
Onshore the islands are very interesting especially the \"finger\" of Corsica and the Cape. Really delicious food, excellent seafood, great wines and very good beer. The islands have an extraordinary history and it is worth getting the Rough Guide to Corsica (for example) to get some background.
Weatherwise we had force 0 to 6 and it is important to keep an eye on the forecast in case of the Mistral which can be pretty nasty on the west coast of Corsica though on the east side and amongst the Tuscan islands the area is pretty well protected.
So, as far as the area is concerned it really exceeded our expectations and we would happily go back or perhaps try northern Sardinia with forays north to Corsica.
A word on Sun Charter:
Booking was straightforward via email. You may be required to transfer the cost of the charter by bank transfer which incurs a small transaction fee. You will also be required to show proof of qualifications - a scan will do.
There is a 2,000 Euro deposit or a 100 Euros insurance fee which reduces the excess to 300 Euros. Up to you but to me the additional 100 Euros is worth it for peace of mind. Final cleaning is 100 Euros though on some charters this cost is included.
I was more than impressed by the state of the boat and its equipment. Solid, well found and well maintained. The company\'s team under the eye of its very experienced Elba manager - Jurg Wagner - keep the boats in excellent shape.
Jurg Wagner is available at all times for the latest weather forecast or other advice and is at pains to emphasise that calling him is part of the charter and fully expected.
The boat briefing and post charter debrief were the most thorough I have had in any charter and I felt familiar with the boat before we left. Also, the debrief took into account every point I made. It was extremely professional and having become attached to \"Pretty Woman\" I was pleased to feel that the debrief was about making sure she was in good order for the future.
Pretty Woman was an excellent boat equipped with laminated sails that made her sail beautifully both by and large. A very powerful engine gave an easy 8 knots when there was not enough wind to make way but even in light airs she did well. SunCharter has a range of different yachts and I would recommend looking at the cabin layout when you book. We had a four cabin version which meant that all the cabins were small. There is a 3 cabin version with a good sized owner\'s cabin which would have been better. As a last minute charter we did not have that option.
The nicest part was being treated like a grown up when it came to sailing. Night sailing is not forbidden or restricted and for an extra fee the company will even rent a gennaker.
The charter facilities on Elba include excellent showers and toilets in Portacabins and there is a big well stocked supermarket within half a mile. There is also secure parking at the base for 30 Euros per week.
SunCharter has tended to serve the German and (in Elba) the Italian market but they are gradually increasing their presence. They are a bit short on English language pilot books for Corsica though we had a good and up to date one for the Italian waters. This is a pretty minor criticism as the anchorage plans in the German pilot for Corsica were clear without us understanding the notes themselves.
This is a lovely area and I was very pleased with my experience of Sun Charter. We live on the continent so we drove to Elba but there are good connections on low cost airlines to Pisa.

Dear Sun Charter
We have been chartering in Goeck/ Marmaris finishing on 9th July 2011 and we want to say THANK YOU for a wonderful time. The boat was fantastic . It
was kitted out to a very high standard and everything worked ! The boat (a
Sun Odyssey 42i called \"Calypso\") sailed very well and we could not have had a better holiday.
The staff who met us in Marmaris at the end of the charter were great. The lady who arranged our transfers was very helpful with suggestions of what to do when we left the boat . I\'m afraid I have forgotten her name . Monique or Monica who greeted us in Goeck at the beginning of our holiday was amazing and helpful with ideas of where to go etc. She handed the boat over explaining everything so we felt very confident when we finally set sail.
The only negative was the nightclub at the end of the pontoon playing dreadful music till 3.30am . We had to be off the boat by 8.00am so we had
3.5 hours sleep.... not good.
